Who hasn’t heard or used the cliché at some point.
You’ve probably used it in reference to an object, a person, a characteristic or quality and how else?
Pretend for a moment that this is you:
You’re sitting at a restaurant bar talking to someone who you’ve been on a couple of dates with. You feel that this person may just be ‘the one” for you. At one point in the conversation your date starts going on and on about a particular individual’s amazing qualities and accomplishments…. What goes through your mind?
Suddenly there is mention of an accomplishment that you can claim as yours as well, so you mention it and it’s somewhat ignored… How do you feel?
You notice that you are becoming more and more agitated but finally the conversation shifts. Your date now focuses on you and how you look tonight… What’s going through your mind now?
Throughout the evening both of you chat with other patrons at the bar. You find yourself glancing at your date and wondering…. What are you wondering about?
Now you have two outcomes to choose from:
1. The evening comes to an end. Your date turns to you, thanks you for a nice time and says, “Is everything all right? You seem a little distant”. To that you immediately reply, “What can I say, I am who I am, what you see is what you get!”
2. The evening comes to an end. Your date turns to you, thanks you for a nice time and says, “ I really enjoy being with you. You’re a great listener.” Pleased and a little surprised you say, “Well, thank you.”
What train of thoughts do you think, would lead you to each outcome?
What is the general feel of each outcome?
What was your outcome?
When you find yourself on a negative train of thought in any situation what would stop you from hopping onto a positive train to see where it takes you?
~If what you see, you get, then how you see may make all the difference in getting what you want. What do you think?
